Volkswagen EOS microsite launched

11 Jun 2006
With just over a month to go before the launch of the Eos coupe cabriolet, Volkswagen has revealed a new website for potential buyers, allowing them to experience the new car in an innovative way, as well as customise and select their own vehicle ahead of the on-sale date of 14 July.

The website can be accessed via the main Volkswagen site (www.volkswagen.co.uk) or direct at www.rediscoveryoursenses.co.uk. This rather unusual domain name sums up the aim of the Eos: to allow drivers to reawaken and rediscover their senses by driving an open-top car.

Visitors to the site will be able to use the latest online interactive technology, previously only available through the likes of PlayStation and Xbox, to 'drive' the Eos through a three-dimensional interactive sensory world of sights, sounds and product information that extend the creative landscapes of the television and print launch advertising. The result is a completely new kind of online experience in the car market that lets people discover the new Eos in the way that suits them.

Interactive agency, Tribal DDB London, pushed the boundaries of technology to enable the site to function in a way that sets it apart from the majority of online advertisements.

In addition to the 'sensory world', potential buyers can configure their own customised vehicles, choosing colours, accessories and engines which can then be turned into an order and taken to their local Volkswagen Retailer; register their interest in the car to receive news updates leading up to launch; and request a test drive via their Retailer.

When it goes on sale in July, the Eos will be the only coupe cabriolet to feature a five-part fully electric roof and integrated sunroof. Prices start at £19,410 for the entry-level 1.6-litre FSI 115 PS.
